Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you use our website and engage Firststop Roofing Ltd.

Last updated: October 2026

1. About Us and These Terms

These terms set out the agreement between you and Firststop Roofing Ltd (referred to as “we”, “us”, or “our”), owned and operated by Matt. We provide professional roofing services to homeowners and property owners across Southampton, Hampshire, and surrounding areas.

By browsing our website, requesting a quotation, or contracting us to carry out work on your property, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Website Use

The content on this website is provided for general informational purposes about our services, recent projects, and trade capabilities. While we make every reasonable effort to keep the information accurate and up to date, we cannot guarantee that all details or photographs are exhaustive.

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use of the site.

3. Free Quotes and Estimates

We provide free, no-obligation quotations following an on-site inspection or initial consultation regarding your property. Every quote details the agreed scope of work, recommended materials, and total price.

  • Unless stated otherwise in writing, our quotations remain valid for a period of 30 days from the date of issue.
  • Quotations reflect material and labour costs at the time of quotation. If external material prices fluctuate significantly after 30 days, we reserve the right to reissue an updated quote.
  • Any quotation is based on visual inspection and information provided by you at the time. Hidden structural defects discovered once work begins are handled as variations (see Section 7).

4. Accepting a Quote

A contract is formed once you confirm your acceptance of our written quote (via email, text message, or signed agreement) and we confirm scheduling of your project dates. Acceptance confirms your agreement to these Terms of Service and any specific conditions noted on the quote.

5. Deposits and Payment

Payment terms and stage payments, if applicable, will be clearly specified in your written quotation.

  • Where required for bespoke materials or extensive works, a deposit will be agreed in advance before ordering materials or commencing work.
  • Final payment is due promptly upon substantial completion of the works and walkthrough inspection with Matt or our lead roofer/tradesperson.
  • Payments can be made via bank transfer or other mutually agreed methods. All materials delivered to the site remain our property until the balance for those goods is settled in full.

6. Materials and Workmanship

We take immense pride in the standard of our trade. All works are carried out with reasonable care and skill, using quality materials consistent with the specifications set out in your written quotation and relevant British building standards.

Natural materials such as natural stone, slate, timber, and clay tiles may exhibit natural batch variations in colour, grain, or texture. These variations are characteristic of genuine architectural materials and are not deemed defects.

7. Variations to Scope

If unforeseen issues arise once stripping or excavation begins (such as rotted roof joists, decayed lintels, concealed pipework, or poor sub-base stability), or if you choose to alter the agreed scope of works:

  • We will explain the situation promptly and provide a clear written or verbal variation estimate before proceeding with the additional work.
  • No costly extra works will be executed without your prior discussion and agreement.

8. Access, Weather, and Delays

You agree to provide reasonable access to your property, driveway, perimeter, and water/power supplies as required for the duration of the project.

Exterior roofing work, replacements, flat roof waterproofing, and roofline installations depend strictly on safe and suitable weather conditions. High winds, heavy rainfall, or sub-zero temperatures can compromise safety and material integrity. Where weather prevents work, we will reschedule at the earliest viable opportunity and keep you informed. We are not liable for delays caused by severe weather or external events outside our control.

9. Standards and Warranties

Manufacturer material warranties and workmanship details will be clearly set out in your written quote upon completion of the project.

Coverage excludes fair wear and tear, storm or accidental damage, structural movement beyond our control, or subsequent alterations made by third parties.

10. Cancellation and Your Statutory Rights

If you are a consumer entering into a contract away from our business premises or at a distance, you generally have the statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations to cancel the contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

  • If you expressly request us to start urgent repairs or work during the 14-day cancellation period, you acknowledge that you will be responsible for the cost of services and bespoke materials supplied up to the point of cancellation.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or affects your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

11. Liability

All trade work is conducted with due professional care, skill, and appropriate safety precautions.

Nothing in these terms shall exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

12. Complaints

Customer satisfaction is central to our reputation. If any aspect of our work or service falls short of your expectations, please raise it directly with Matt as soon as possible. We will review the matter promptly, inspect the work without delay, and seek an honest, practical resolution.

13. Intellectual Property and Photos of Work

All branding, website content, text, and original imagery belong to Firststop Roofing Ltd.

From time to time, we take photographs of works in progress and completed installations for our portfolio, case studies, and social media. We ensure photographs respect your privacy by excluding personal identifiers, house numbers, and vehicle registration plates. If you prefer that photographs of your project are not published, please notify us before work commences.

14. Governing Law

These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business practices or statutory obligations. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated revision date.

16. Contact Details
